Relics of Canaan (2026)
A minigame that gathers archaeology, Canaanite mythology, and Palestinian history into a playable archive. Set across an atemporal map of Canaan/Palestine, the game invites players to move through illustrated sites, uncovering fragments of knowledge that affirm the civilisation’s continuity beyond modern borders and nation-state frameworks. Different relics correspond to visual-novel encounters with the ancient Canaanite deities Baal, Asherah, and Astarte, allowing mythological figures to serve as guides through the land’s contested histories and tales.

For our final undergraduate exhibition at Chelsea College of Arts, “All Things Considered”, I assembled a cosy, nostalgic space made up of carpets, embroidered cushions, and traditional patterns to cocoon my visual novel game and its players!! Before entering the digital platform, each player was instructed to draw a tarot-sized artefact card, assigning them a fragmented relic to seek out within the game.
